Tōka-an & Experiences

Concept

To wear a kimono.
To hold a tea bowl.
To breathe in the scent of matcha.
To savor a moment of stillness.

Tōka-an is a quiet space in Uji where guests can discover the depth of Japanese culture through a tea ceremony experience, kimono, and more.

Here, we place great importance on allowing guests to feel the atmosphere and sensibility of Japanese culture through the body itself.

To wear a kimono.
To hold a tea bowl.
To breathe in the scent of matcha.
To savor a moment of stillness.

It is our hope that through these experiences, guests come away having touched something of the true depth of Japanese culture.

We hope Tōka-an can serve as a small doorway into the unhurried world of Uji and the depth of Japanese culture.

A space to slow down, and simply feel.
